iDEA is a multi-modal imaging system which captures images of the anterior segment of the eye including the ocular surface at visible, IR and Long Wave IR (Thermography) wavelengths capturing both static and dynamic parameters of clinical relevance. The captured images are processed and analyzed using real time AI algorithms to provide measurable parameters and pictures with better visual representations.
While the images captured at visible and IR wavelengths provide information on more conventional clinical parameters, iDEA using the advance AI models brings the quantitative ability and removes the subjectivity with respect to the grading or catergerization of the captured clinical information like lid abnormalities, tear meniscus height, meibography, meibomian gland loss, blink rate, tear film breakup time etc
iDEA brings a special capability of ocular surface thermography which is an unique way of looking at the tear film dynamics associated with instability which in turn is found to be correlating better with the symptoms. Thermal profile of the ocular surface captured are analyzed with specially trained AI models to provide a score which indicates the extent of tear film instability.
iDEA as a system has been designed in a compact way which can be used as a clip on to the slit lamp without requiring additional space or infrastructure. Operators can swivel it around the tonomount to bring it in front or to put it on the sides. This has been found to be another uniqueness of iDEA with respect to usability and form factor.
iDEA has been evaluated in clinical settings against gold standards like LipiView and IDRA and iDEA has been found to score better in terms of sensitivity and specificity as compared tot he conventional methods.
