AIXLens GmbH was founded to develop a new and innovative way to manufacture Intraocular Lenses purely by LASER-Technology. Today, we are able to shape fully bespoke and customized IOLs (any free-form) and finally polish the IOL touchless to a roughness in the single nm-range resulting in or better than classically desired optical quality. Wear-off, setup- and tooling-times as well as manufacturing to stock will soon be history. This technology will not only lower manufacturing cost dramatically, but at the same time it will have major impact on stock and logistics. Even more important, cost-per-piece will be independent from lotsize (e.g. n=1). Thus, we can offer individualization for free. There is no need to manufacture to stock, this technology will allow manufacturing on demand since the longest process in the chain will be shipment time.
